Message from the Chairman of the Management Board on security issues

The year 2018 is coming to an end, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank each of you for your dedication, hard work at KazMunayGas, as well as for your commitment to security issues. As Deputy Chairman of the Board of the National Welfare Fund Samruk-Kazyna JSC, I personally observed what outstanding results KazMunayGas achieved in the field of security in 2018. For the first time in the history of the Company, it was possible to achieve a ZERO indicator for work-related deaths over a period of 12 months. The number of accidents with loss of working time (for a period of more than one day as a result of work-related injury) decreased by 35% compared to 2017. All this testifies to the improvement and strengthening of the safety culture in the Company every year. And I want to thank you all for that.

However, unfortunately, 2018 has not become a year without accidents and accidents - incidents at work still take place. We want the employees of the Company and contractors, every single one, always we returned home from work unharmed! We will continuously work on our goal of achieving 100% security. No exceptions!

Our diligent work to protect the health and safety of our employees, contractors and the public is a fundamental factor in the long-term and successful business of JSC NC "KazMunayGas". We will tirelessly promote a safety culture by attracting, developing and retaining human resources that share our core values and our commitment to integrity and high production standards.

The Company has developed and implemented a number of safety rules, procedures and standards. A lot of work has been done, but this is not enough. We shall continue our commitment to achieving a culture where the value of safety is embedded at all levels of our team, and is also an integral part of the behavioral culture of everyone who performs work at KMG facilities. This value should remain unchanged even when you leave the workplace, it should become a part of your personal life forever. Because the safety culture is a set of unwritten norms and standards that shape the way of thinking, attitude and behavior.

Commitment to safety begins with leadership. But the leadership alone will not be able to ensure the widespread introduction of culture.

I expect that each of you, if he sees unsafe conditions or an action, will openly speak out about it, and those to whom you address will listen to you, whether it is an employee performing a task or your supervisor, in order to provide you with the appropriate equipment and training for safe performance of work. This commitment extends to every employee of KMG, including me.

Our goal is to create a culture in which all our employees would feel personally responsible for safety, where not only requirements are met, but there is an atmosphere where everyone strives to improve the state of safety.

Building a safety culture is a path that has no final stop. We should never stop there. The reality is that constant progress along this path develops self-discipline and forces us to constantly worry about security, to do everything in our power to improve it. Let's be the best company in Kazakhstan and in the oil and gas industry. And also strive for further and continuous improvement of safety indicators!

I would like to thank you once again for your dedication, contribution to improving safety indicators and increasing the efficiency of JSC NC "KazMunayGas", and also wish you and your families a safe, healthy and successful new year 2019.
