365 days without incident – on the way to achieving 100% safety

For many years, compliance with labor and environmental protection standards was considered only as a legal requirement, and regulatory requirements determined the directions of work on safety management. The key elements were discipline and control. At the same time, the absence of occupational injuries was considered an unattainable goal, or was considered at best as a dream that we should strive for.

Over time, our safety culture began to change as our understanding of the complexity of production processes, the importance and necessity of increasing personal responsibility in occupational safety issues began to improve. We have witnessed further development in this direction, when, as a result of more effective intra-team interaction, we began to perceive ourselves as leaders in the field of occupational safety and health. Ensuring security has become not just the fulfillment of legislative requirements, but also our moral duty to employees, representatives of contracting organizations and company. In addition, we realized that the introduction of best practices for ensuring safety and labor protection does not cause any harm, while non-compliance with safety rules can lead to huge losses, both material, human and reputational.

An ideal Day from the point of view of safety is a day when all KMG employees return home to their families unharmed, a day when there were no accidents and our activities did not cause damage to the environment. In 2014, we started counting such days for the first time and worked 90 days without incident.  In 2015, the indicator reached 96 days, and by the end of 2017 it had improved by 30% and reached 125 days. This year's statistics allow us to predict 200 days without incident by the end of the year, but despite the positive dynamics, we still have something to strive for. We must understand that the closer we get to the goal of 365 days without incident, the more efforts we will have to make to achieve each subsequent day.

For this reason, we are launching the "100% security" program. If earlier the complete absence of accidents and accidents was our vision, now it is the expectation of the result. This means that we grant the right to our employees and the contractor's staff and expect them to openly express their opinions, intervene and ensure compliance with the requirements if they notice non-compliance, violation of safety regulations or deviation from the principle of "100% safety".

KMG takes 100% compliance with safety standards seriously as one of the company's core values. This is not just a slogan!

In the coming weeks, you will receive additional information, including a video explaining the importance of 100% compliance with occupational safety and health standards.

I and the entire management of KMG are committed to the principle of "100% safety". I ask you to ensure the dissemination and correct understanding of this message throughout the group of companies.
